We are happy to announce a new version (0.10.0) of our popular d3plot2hdf5 converter. The converter transforms LSDYNA d3plot databases into xdmf/hdf5 files. Using tools like, e.g., ParaView these files can then be processed in the same way as one would do with ordinary vtk files.
With this release some things change. Most importantly:
- The oddly designed automatic bug reporting feature has been completely removed. Instead, this forum serves as a place of mutual exchange. Feel free to join and to participate.
- macOS builds are not available any longer, but might be handed out if desired. macOS simply doesn’t seem to be the place for working with d3plot databases.
- The converter itself now supports DEM models. These were added upon request.
- Some additional information on BEAM elements are extracted.
- …and we’ve fixed quite some
The Linux version (download) is still a simple terminal application. Since it comes without dependencies, the converter should work on a vast variety of Linux systems.
The Windows version (download) comes as a GUI application as well as a command line tool.
A general remark: The d3plot database format is a bit ancient and it requires quite some reverse engineering. Consequently, this converter still is not being capable of transforming every d3plot database into HDF5. To steadily improve it we depend on as much customer feedback as we can get. If for whatever reason you can’t participate in this forum, feel free to contact us here or here in a more private manner.
